Banding Instructions

  • It will take on average, 3 to 7 days for you to become accustomed to your braces.
  • Dr. Orenstein has shown you how to use the wax. Please use it liberally if needed.
  • 200-400 mg. of ibuprofen (Advil, Nuprin, Motrin, etc.) may be used as needed for the first few days. (Tylenol if there are any problems with ibuprofen.)
  • The most important piece of information is to remember to KEEP YOUR TEETH AND GUM AREA CLEAN. We ask that you brush your teeth after every meal and before going to bed (4 times a day). Each brushing should last at least THREE minutes.
  • We highly recommend the use of the Braun Oral B Professional Care toothbrush, which was given to you today. It is a great aid in maintaining your oral hygiene.
  • Please do not chew gum or any sticky candies.
  • There are no dietary restrictions as long as some common sense guidelines are followed. For example, apples should be sliced, corn should be removed from the cob, raw vegetables should be cut into small pieces.
  • Being careful with what you eat will minimize repair visits and help keep treatment on schedule.
  • If anything should become loose or broken, please call the office during regular hours for a repair appointment.
  • Please do not hesitate to call the office if you have any questions or are experiencing any difficulties.
  • In case of emergency, please call Dr. Orenstein on his cell at 908-398-4158.
  • Please make sure you have another appointment before leaving the office.
